Awards
The Guild has two award programs: (1) the Michael Barranco Award; and (2) the Urban Guild Awards.
Barranco Award
The Barranco Award honors the memory of Jackson, Mississippi architect Michael Barranco, who was killed in a 2011 car crash. It is awarded to individuals who not only distinguished themselves in design but who also demonstrate a gift for building enduring relationships beyond architecture, and inspiring coalitions for transformative change in the lives of families and communities--- while unselfishly not caring who gets credit.
2011: Michael Barranco
2012: Steve Mouzon
2013: Andrew Von Maur
2014: R. John Anderson
2015: Bruce Tolar
2016: Julia Starr Sanford

Urban Guild Awards
The Urban Guild Awards are awarded annually to celebrate design excellence and exploration. Awards are given in three categories:
Design Excellence
This award celebrates architectural excellence that has been built within the past five years. The submittal may be of any scale, program or building typology. Anyone, not just Guild members, are eligible to win this award.
Design Exploration
This award celebrates built or unbuilt work that advances the art of the practice with visionary innovation. This work must have been created within the past five years. Anyone, not just Guild members, are eligible to win this award.
Student Work
This award celebrates a student’s work which shows an appreciation and understanding of the importance of the Guild’s core values such as architecture that supports (not undermines) urban design, our commitment to building upon the wisdom of others (whether through building upon the wisdom of precedent or collaborating with others), and our support for sustainable architectural patterns. The Student Work award is open to any work that has been completed by a student within the past five years, even if the person seeking the award is no longer a student.
